Becoming like Christ for the sake of others

A Reason to Worship 12/8/15

When Jesus entered this world, worship exploded everywhere. Angels worshiped. Shepherds worshiped. The three wise sages worshiped. Anna and Simeon worshiped. And of course Mary, the mother of Jesus, worshiped in wonder and awe. “My soul exalts the Lord and my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior, for He has had regard for the humble state of His servant, for behold, from this time forth all generations will count me blessed. For the Mighty One has done great things and holy is His Name.” Luke 1:46-49

These young ladies are able to worship God because Jesus broke into our world. They are worshiping with all that is within them.

Would Like to Have Heard This: And an angel suddenly appeared to the shepherds in the fields of Bethlehem, joined by a multitude of the heavenly hosts highly praising God, saying, “Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.”  Luke 2:13-14

The Prophetess: And there was Anna, advanced in years, who never left the temple, serving day and night with fasting and prayer, and she was a  prophetess from the tribe of Asher. And when in the temple she saw Jesus, who was but eight days old, she worshiped and gave thanks and spoke of Him for many days afterwards, to those who were looking for the redemption of Jerusalem.”  Luke 2:36-38 (paraphrase)

These Need Our Prayers…

  • Peggy Hanks needs visitors, especially during this season. Now that she has moved to Anaheim, fewer people visit. If you would like to reach out to her, she is at the Parkview Healthcare Center, 1514 East Lincoln Ave., Anaheim, CA 92805. Parkview’s phone is 714-774-2222. It’s best to personally call Peggy ahead if you are considering visiting. Her number is 704-813-8770. If unable to visit, pray God provides.
  • Pray for Lou, who next week will be receiving heart stents but also has an abdominal aneurysm
  • Pray for the families grieving over losses due to terrorism in San Bernardino last week
  • Healing/Comfort/Encouragement – Dorrie, Denise, David K., Taffy, Beverly, Amy
  • That God’s presence would be realized in our Advent, Christmas and regular services.

Amazing Email: Dick is in hospice care and in an assisted living facility and near the end. All of his 89 years he has resisted the Lord and was agnostic. We have all been praying and today a lady walked into his room and shared with  him and he prayed to receive Christ in his heart. My Mom said he was excited about it and ready to meet his maker. Some ladies from a local church come in every Friday and today was the day. Our Christmas miracle!

Tozer on Worship: “I can safely say, on the authority of all that is revealed in the Word of God, that any man or woman on this earth who is bored and turned off by worship is not ready for heaven.”  A. W. Tozer

Kerns on Worship: “The whole person, with all his senses, with both mind and body, needs to be involved in genuine worship.” Jerry Kerns

Lewis on Worship: “The most valuable thing the Psalms do for me is to express the same delight in God which made David dance.”  C.S. Lewis
