Becoming like Christ for the sake of others

First Devotional of 2016

I’ve seen some extraordinary photos during my lifetime but this one taken just a few days ago by Greg Sowle ranks right up there with the very best. It captures a transcendent moment, a blazing Laguna sunset blanketed by the swirling skies of the heavens above. And rising majestically in the foreground –  a simple cross perched on our steeple, reminding us of the beauty of Christ, that He is glorious in all that he has done, is doing, and will be doing on this earth.

“Creative People – risk takers; color outside the lines; make mistakes; dream big.”  Unknown
“The teacher of God’s Word has the supreme chance to make men everlastingly grateful.”  G. Ray Jordan
“The most difficult issue is the decision to act; the rest is merely tenacity.”  Amelia Earhart
“Success is walking from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm.”  Winston Churchill

Two Photos Below: During New Year’s morning prayer at the knoll, we branched off by ourselves and spent about 15 minutes alone with God. Wonderful photos by Mary Hurlbut
