Becoming like Christ for the sake of others

A Humble Offering 5/29/18

A Tender Heart: Sharing with you this week a letter I received awhile back. Actually it’s a prayer of someone very grateful to God. Such sweet and moving thoughts. Penned anonymously…

“Dear Lord, I love Your blessings. My little house and surroundings are beautiful day after day. The events in my life are often immensely enjoyable. Being low-income in relation to my neighbors and relatives does not affect my joy. Life is not all fun but the responsibilities I carry are worth the returns. And the needs I do have help keep me not humble nor compassionate enough.
But if I could do Your work, I would find all the more joy. I pray there be a spring of new life and hope in all that I do, that I always respect You and give to others the joys, the love and the life You’ve given to me. Doing Your will is the only right way.
I also praise and thank you for the people in our town, those in Laguna, who are for the most part compassionate, non-judgmental, patient, appreciative and supportive. I praise You, because it seems like you’ve given me the best place to live in all the world.”

Doing/Dreaming: “Do noble things, not dream them all day long. And so make life, death and the vast forever one grand, sweet song.”   –Charles Kingsley

BEST

Like the star
That shines afar
Without haste
And without rest
Let each man wheel with steady sway
Round the task that rules the day
And do his best
 –-Goethe

What a great reminder – doing our best.
