Becoming like Christ for the sake of others

A Word on Peace

A truth has gripped me during this pandemic, perhaps more today than ever, the amazing difference between the peace the world offers to us and the peace Jesus offers.

Human peace – a state of contentment resulting from no conflict or trouble; freedom from disturbances; tranquility; absence of noise; our circumstances are good.

God’s peace – a state of contentment, free from worry, even and especially in, the midst of the most difficult and trying circumstances; trusting in God no matter what is taking place in your life.

Three Significant Verses Promising God’s Peace

“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid,”  John 14:27

“These things I have spoken to you so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation, but take courage, I have overcome the world.”  John 16:33

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything with prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God, and the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 4:6,7

Friday Prayer Needs…

  • One of our members needs to move soon, as her rental is being sold. Pray God provides the right place for her, somewhere nearby. *** Never mind everybody, skip this prayer. It was answered as I was writing this and abundance came for our sister in need. A powerful and direct response by God. Extraordinary. Makes my heart sing.
  • Kirsten Ford’s stepmother Denise, mother of Chris who occasionally plays the B3 organ during worship services, battling cancer. From Kirsten: “May the Lord touch her with renewed miraculous energy. As her thyroid and her one remaining adrenal gland isn’t functioning well- the cancer treatment is intense but she’s hanging in there.
  • Deb DeSimone – getting ready to report back to work as a nurse. Pray God’s protection.
  • Gil Dellinger – strengthened immune system and increased energy.
  • Grateful for two people I have never mentioned in a Prayer Letter. Kelly Fleming, just superb in the office, and Mary French, who has done such a terrific job cleaning our premises.

Finally: “You never see the stars so clear as when you are in the desert.”
