A Very Special Union
Just an extraordinary couple. Sam and Rebecca carry a huge heart for God
I sensed the marriage of Sam and Rebecca was coming sooner than might be expected. They had visited my home a few weeks after the shutdown and the glow of romance, the joy of the Lord, and their passion for life overflowed as we chatted in my back yard. There was no doubt God had called them together.
Did a certain prayer have anything to do with this? Perhaps, just a little. Back in the fall, before Sam had met Rebecca, Nikki and I had dinner at Mark and Sally’s home, Sam’s parents. At the end of dining, Nikki, who is a shadchanit at heart, prayed as we all held hands, that Sam would discover a wife soon. Voila. It’s exactly what happened. A shadchanit is a female Jewish matchmaker.
On Monday of this week I spoke with Mark who told Nikki and me Sam was getting married the next day. But to keep it confidential until after the ceremony. Then this morning Sam and Rebecca called. I can’t even express the joy I felt for them as we talked. This is such a special couple.
One of the greatest joys of pastoring at Little Church these past 19 years was working with Pastor Sam as our Youth Leader. He turned so many lives around. Led so many kids to Christ. Carried such a passion for ministry. Understood the value of prayer. And now God has brought him an incredible treasure in Rebecca. God is amazing!
The National Day of Prayer: Tomorrow will be a National Day of Prayer unlike any other. We will not be meeting in front of City Hall, joining 40,000 other groups around the nation as we usually do. We will all be praying from home which I encourage you to do. Below will be some areas the NDP Task Force suggest we pray over. First a classic Doug Miller photo.

** National Day of prayer 27 years ago, me with no beard. Nikki about had a heart attack when I shaved and I grew a beard back soon thereafter.
