 Dramatically Different

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are My ways your ways. For as high as the heavens are above the earth so My thoughts are higher than your thoughts.”  Isaiah 55:8

The ways of God and the ways of man are diametrically different. Completely opposite. What is important to God is rarely important to man. The thoughts of God and the ways of God cannot really be compared to man. With man, everything needs to make sense. With God, sometimes we make no sense of what the Lord might be doing. The ideas of man compared to God are so often in conflict. Here are a few examples…

Man says Jesus was a good person, a great teacher, a fine example. God says Jesus is the Eternal Son of God, God in the flesh, the Redeemer of mankind, the Savior of the world.

Man says there are many ways to God. All roads lead to heaven. It doesn’t matter what you believe. God says there is one way, through Christ. “I am the Way, the Truth, the Life,” said Jesus. “No one comes unto the Father except through Me.” John 14:6

Furthermore, Peter said, “And there is Salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:13  **notice the phrase no one else. Not Buddha. Not Mohammed. Not Confucius. Nobody else.

Man says weakness, failure, trials and tribulation are to be avoided at all costs. God says those things are mightily used of Him to refine, shape and mold our lives.  Romans 5:1-8; James 1:2-4  **note – the cross is a perfect example of God’s wisdom and what man perceives as foolishness.

Man says the Bible is unreliable, a book of fables and myths, full of errors, untrustworthy. God says His Word is a “Lamp unto our feet and a Light unto our path,” Psalm 119:105  “That heaven and earth may pass away but My Word will never pass away.” Matthew 24:35

Man focuses on the temporary, earthly, and perishable, that which is seen. God elevates the eternal, the heavenly, the unperishable and that which is not seen. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18
