Becoming like Christ for the sake of others

This Is What I Celebrate 11/22/16

So Very Grateful: I sometimes feel like the luckiest person in the world. Or perhaps I should say one of the most fortunate or blessed of God. What is it that makes me feel so good, so grateful? Well, it’s you. Your friendship, care for me, the prayers uttered on behalf of me and my family, love shared, your encouragement, countless texts, emails, messages and posts, have reached deep down into my heart and made me feel so glad to be alive. As we celebrate Thanksgiving, I celebrate you. How blessed I am to have you in my life.

A Poignant Word:
“Look at everything as though you were seeing it for the first or the last time, then your time on earth will be filled with glory.” —Betty Smith

Cuba: I returned early Thursday morning from a dizzying week-long trip in which a team of 24 people from around the country traveled to the eastern side of Cuba, handing out almost 10,000 Bibles to pastors/leaders of over 50 churches. Additionally we gave out hundreds of reading glasses, bicycles to pastors who never had their own transportation, and nine packed bags of baseball gear to kids who never owned their own bat or glove. Grown men and women jumped for joy as we placed a Bible in their hands, shouting and rejoicing over this precious gift, and kids were beside themselves with glee as they opened the bags and saw all the brand new equipment. A very special time. Pray for Cuba as I sense it is right on the cusp of revival.

From Famed Basketball Coach John Wooden: “Things turn out best for people who make the best of the way things turn out.”

Scripture of the Week: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything with prayer and supplication, with THANKSGIVING, make your request to God, and the peace of God that passes all understanding shall guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 4:6,7

 “Prayer is dependence on God
Worry is dependence on self”
