Knowing she was dying, Cherry’s Burmese mother brought her to our ministry home in Thailand about a year ago. Cherry transitioned easily, enrolled in school, started helping with our outreach and became a beloved part of our family. Pastor Jay, would really appreciate your prayers for Cherry. She went to visit her mother in Burma (during a school break) but didn’t know she had died of AIDS two months ago. While in Burma, an aunt introduced Cherry to her father who hadn’t seen her since she was baby. Now the father doesn’t want her to return to us and took Cherry to his village to keep an eye on her. He won’t allow her to go anywhere, is a drunkard and doesn’t work. I called Cherry by phone five days ago and she was crying as she so wants to come back to us and resume school.
My concern is her father, who won’t work, will force Cherry to work. She is a smart girl and should be with us in Sangkhlaburi this week because she needs to enroll in school for grade 7.
Now, Cherry is not allowed to talk on the phone anymore. Please pray for intervention and that God would soften the heart of her father.
