Becoming like Christ for the sake of others

How to be Happier 7/31/18

If you would like to find more happiness in your life here’s a little insight. To be happier there’s a few things you need to forget. Forget the faults of your family and friends. Forget all the critical things people have said about you. Forget personal quarrels and real or imagined slights from others. Forget those who have rejected you. Forget your failures. Forget the stupid things you’ve said and done. Forget those who have hurt you. Blot out everything disagreeable in your life.

And then? Start tomorrow with a clean slate. And determine to do these things…to encourage others, to show love and lots of mercy and compassion.

Please Pray:
Two of our high schooler’s, Cole and Paris lost their mother last week. It’s been wonderful to see how friends here at Little Church have reached out to help in every way possible. Even Pastor Sam called me from South Africa to say he was assigning some of our youth leaders to help shepherd Cole and Paris during this very tough time. The big prayer need is where does God now want them to live and the adjustments they will have to make with their mother gone.

Other Prayer Focuses This Week…

  • A church member’s son who has been on a drinking binge and self-destructing
  • Mary Ann Carlson, still deeply grieving over the loss of her husband 7 weeks ago.
  • A new assistant for Pastor Toby as Kori Kelso goes back to teaching school.
  • Prayer for Kori as she takes a second grade class at Stoneybrooke Christian School
  • Prayer for those who have lost houses in the terrible fire in the Redding area
  • Kenneth – battling brain tumors; has undergone one operation
  • Praise for Kit Van Rennselaer’s ankle healing so very well.
  • Lee Milton, Tricia Patino and Kiana who all got baptized at Main Beach on Saturday

Pastor Sam:  told me on the phone over the weekend he’s excited to return to Laguna and the church. He’s in Brazil this week and will be back here at Little Church in mid-August. Sam will be preaching at the Sunday service, August 26th.

For those of you with a really good sense of humor. Sent to me by friends in the Philippines…

Finally, in the midst of all the stifling heat, be patient with others. Really speaking to myself.
