Answer: that you would possess a true revelation of God. Ephesians 1:17-19 “That you would be given a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of God, that the eyes of our hearts would be enlightened.”
In other words, that the lights would turn on in your life and you would receive a life-changing and glorious revelation of God, giving you a great understanding, a high view, an huge awareness of who God is, that what you think about God corresponds to what God is really like.
The Prodigal Son
Luke 15:11-32
11 And Jesus said, There was a certain man who had two sons. 12 And the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the share of your estate now, before you die.’ And he divided his wealth between them.
13 A few days later the younger son packed all his belongings and moved to a distant country and there squandered his fortune in reckless and loose living. 14 At about the time his money ran out, a severe famine swept over the land and he began to starve. 15 He persuaded a local farmer to hire him and the man sent him into his fields to feed swine. 16 And he was longing to fill his stomach with what the swine ate but no one gave him anything.
17 Coming to his senses he said, ‘How many of my father’s servants have plenty to eat but here I am dying of hunger. 18 I will get up and go to my father and say to him, “Father I have sinned against heaven and in your sight. 19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son, make me as one of your hired servants.”
20 And he got up and went to his father, but while he was a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion and ran to his son, embracing him and kissing him again and again. 21 And the son said, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight and I am no longer worthy to be called your son.” 22 But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick, bring me the finest robe in the house, and put it on him. Give him a ring for his finger and sandals for his feet, 23 and kill the fattened calf and let us eat and be merry, 24 for this son of mine was dead and is alive again, he was lost and has been found.” And they began to celebrate.
25 Meanwhile, the older son was working in the fields and as he returned home he heard music and dancing. 26 And he asked one of the servants what was going on. 27 And the servant replied, “Your brother has come home and your father killed the fattened calf, and we are celebrating his safe return.” 28 But the elder brother seethed with anger and would not go into the house. Then the father came out and pleaded with him to join the celebration.
29 But he replied, “All these years I have served you and never once refused to do anything you asked. But you have never given me as much as a goat to celebrate with my friends, 30 but when this son of yours returns after wasting his money on harlots, you kill the fattened calf for him.” 31 And the father said, “My son, you have always been with me and all that is mine is yours. 32 But we had to celebrate, to feast and rejoice, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again, he was lost but now has been found.”
