Jay Grant’s message on Psalm 136
Psalm 136 contains the most significant/important/greatest Hebrew word for how God feels about His people. This Hebrew word is “hesed”. It’s a virtually indescribable word. A word of stunning meaning. It has no English equivalent. Translators strain to translate it. “Hesed” is a multi-dimensional word expressing all these English words in how God feels about us –profoundly love us, shows great mercy and deep compassion, is always loyal and faithful, steadfast in His love, a love which continues forever. The word even infers magnificence.
The essence of love found in the word “hesed”
** God does not have to love His people but has chosen to love us.
** This love never ceases. God will always love us. Eternally. Forever.
** This means – you need never, ever question if you are loved by God
God’s “hesed” is translated in English like this…
NAS – His loving-kindness is everlasting
ESV – His steadfast love endures forever
AMP – His mercy and loving-kindness endures forever
MESSAGE – His love never quits
KJ/NKJ – His mercy endures forever
