Becoming like Christ for the sake of others

The Happiest Person in the World 6/24/19

The Happiest Person in the World

The happiest person in the world is the one who does everything for the glory of God, no matter what the circumstances. It’s the school teacher who gives her all for the kids in her class, whatever the challenges may be; the housewife who sweeps her home for the glory of God, regardless of the problems in her life. The artist whose heart is alive to create for the majesty of God, even during lean times.

It’s the one struggling with illness, or is perhaps handicapped, who still gives praise to God. The wordsmith who writes to lift God higher and higher even when his submissions have been rejected; the shop owner who has consecrated their business to glorify God, no matter what the sales are. The truck driver, lumbering down the highway, singing of The Lord’s greatness, even when he is wearied and worn out; the lawyer who yearns for God’s justice in the courtroom in the midst of all kinds of legal shenanigans; the pastor teaching for God’s glory and not his own, facing all kinds of spiritual warfare.

All of these have transcended the difficulties of life, risen above trials and tribulations with a faith that believes they are gloriously blessed in Christ. They sing instead of complain. They dance instead of despair. They shine light on the darkness rather than curse it. They shout at the walls of difficulty. And every time discouragement or self-pity or a critical spirit starts to arise, they overwhelm the negativity with worship and The Word. These love God. They seek Him. They yearn for His presence. They worship, praise, encourage and bless. They pray earnestly. They are the true over-comers.

“Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”  Colossians 3:16
