Daily Prayer Message, Saturday, May 16, 2020
Loving God
And Jesus was asked, “Which commandment is the greatest of all commandments?” And Jesus answered, “The foremost is, Hear O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord; and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second is, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There are no greater commandments than these.’” Mark 12:28-31
Loving God. This is our highest call. This should be our supreme pursuit. The action word in the passage is “all”, repeated five times. “All” means with everything you’ve got, with every ounce of energy, fully engaged, with your entire being. I think back on my life and I’ve loved with “all” before – my wife, my kids, ministry, Little Church, coaching kids, seminary. These days I’m increasingly loving my friends. You are so beloved. You’ve been so good to me. I am ever grateful.
Looking to God. Worshiping Him. The author and finisher of our faith. Loving Him with all our hearts.
