The Power of Encouragement

I love to encourage others. I love to be encouraged. Few things in life are more wonderful to me than encouragement. To affirm someone. To call out who they are. To put them in touch with their real identity. To bless them. Speak life into their spirit. To release joy through building them up.

I love to assault insecurities in people. Feelings of rejection. Fear, guilt, shame and self-condemnation. To cancel harsh words that cursed them somewhere in their past. To deliver them from every lie they’ve believed.

I love to tell people how God really feels about them. What He sees when He looks at them. To reassure people of God’s love, that He is for them, not against them.

There is tremendous power in affirmation. You can change someone’s life by speaking truth into them. Telling them who they really are. You can turn their lives completely around. Isn’t that how God has changed us? Convincing us He loved us after lots of us believed God was angry and austere and demanding.

So why not call someone this week and encourage them. It might change their day, week or maybe their life.
