Becoming like Christ for the sake of others

Jeremiah 17 | When Life Gets Hard

What do we do? How do we respond?
How do we navigate the tough trials of life?
What do we do when life goes haywire?
How do we get through heart-breaking times

1.      The first and most important – live a consistent life with God/stay connected

  • This is the best preparation for tough days
  • To the degree you are connected with God, to that degree you will cope well
  • If you are not connected with God when the storm comes you are scrambling
  • Connection versus disconnection

2.      Next, look at every trial, every difficulty as an opportunity to grow

  • Stay positive. What Is God wanting to do in my life?
  • What attitudes/behavior patterns does He want to change?
  • What can I learn from this?
  • How can I grow through this?

3.      You must not run away, hide or escape from your problems

  • Take control over your tendency to retreat from problems
  • Self-medicating only delays what God wants to do
  • You can be sure God will bring back what you have run from
  • Avoid quick, impulsive responses, especially when angry
