Becoming like Christ for the sake of others

Thoughts For The Heart 5/3/16

Taking a Moment to Pray: Starting off this devotional with prayer needs. In a world full of challenges, this week has quite a few…

  • Caleb Scott– who left for Lebanon yesterday to serve as a missionary for an extended time, reaching out to Syrian refugees; his skin has recently flared up with a bad case of eczema making him really uncomfortable
  • Billy Miller– son of Bill and Andra who left on Sunday for a second stint in Romania, working with the poor; Pray for provision for him
  • RhonaGrant– undergoing serious brain surgery tomorrow morning (eight-hour procedure) at 7:30 am, to fix one or more cerebral aneurysms.
  • Brittany– kidneys failing from an extended battle with Lupus; married with three boys; miracle needed to survive; friends with Rhonda Ellis
  • Cheri – terrific battle with depression; needs to be set free
  • Mary Hurlbut– extreme pain in right hip and down her leg since Saturday
  • Gil– needs the right rental in Laguna; just moving down from up north and loves Little Church

Join Us: This Thursday at noon, around the flag pole in front of City Hall, the National Day of Prayer; we join 40,000 other gatherings around the country in praying for our nation; service will last an half-hour or so.

Some Thoughts For the Heart…

  • When everybody else walks out, Jesus is walking in
  • God doesn’t control our life; we’re not robots; but God is in charge of our life
  • When you really love, nobody is safe from a blessing
  • All suffering produces something good, usually much more than we know
  • Our attitude when troubles come will determine how well we live life
  • God wants us to be like Him when it comes to difficult people – love them
  • It’s not the size of your accomplishments that’s important but the size of your heart
  • Everyone is remarkable if you care to see
  • God is more interested in your character than your comfort
  • This is certain – what you are facing today is going to pass
