Becoming like Christ for the sake of others

Ephesians 4:1-16

Jay Grant’s message on Ephesians 4:1-16

“Lord, remind me how brief my time here on earth will be
Remind me that my days are numbered
That my life is so very brief
My entire lifetime is just a moment to you
At best, each one of us is but a breath.”  Psalm 39:4,5

“There is a season for everything
A time for every activity under heaven
A time to be born, a time to die
A time plant, a time to harvest.” Ecclesiastes 3:1,2

“Make the very most of your time
Because the days are evil.”  Ephesians 5:16

Ephesians chapters 1-3
What God has done for us
(For those who give their lives to Christ)
We are united with Christ, joined to Him for ever and ever
Everything we’ve ever done wrong has been forgiven
God releases His unimaginable love into our lives
God dwells in us, here on earth, both personally and corporately
God does more in our lives than we could ever think or imagine

Ephesians 4: 1-6
1 Therefore, I, the prisoner of the Lord, entreat you to walk in a manner worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. 2  Live with humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love. 3 Make every effort to preserve the unity of the Spirit through the binding power of peace.  4 There is one body, one Spirit, one hope of your calling.  5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 One God and Father, who is above all and living in all of us.

Ephesians 4:7-10
7 But grace has been given to each of us, in different ways, through the generous love of Christ.  8 This is why the Scriptures say when Christ ascended to heaven, he first freed captives, and gave gifts to His people  9  Yes, He ascended, after He had first descended from heaven into our lowly world. 10 He ascended higher than the heavens, that His presence might fill the whole universe.

Ephesians 4:11-13
11 God gave these gifts to His people – apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers.  12  These are for the equipping of God’s people, that they should grow into doing the work of ministry, building up the church, 13  until we all attain to a oneness of faith, and the knowledge the Son of God, becoming mature, entering into the fulnessof Christ.

Ephesians 4:14-16
14 As a result, we will no longer be as children, tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men who seek to mislead us. 15  But speaking the truth in love, we are to become more and more like Christ, who is the head.  16 From whom the who body, held together by that which every joint supplies, with each part working properly, results in the whole body being healthy, growing and full of love.
